This now annual event was a big hit and ensured a number of boaters got the 2008 boating season off to a safe start.
The Boat Smart crew set up their display and testing booth. I saw lots of test writers and just as many happy faces as they passed the exam and recieved their Pleasure Craft Operator Card.
The Rideau Lakes Fire and Rescue team taught us all about fire safety, fire extinguisher FAQs, and demonstrated the correct method to extinguish a live blaze. What a fun way to learn about a dangerous issue!
CIL/Orion brought knowledge, and tons of great free stuff! They set off a huge flare display at the end of the pier and allowed any takers to try out the products. Let's hope we never have to use that skill!
CC Marine, one of our biggest and best suppliers came out to assist our cause. They are the guys who send us the great products we have in our store. It's fantastic to have the knowledge and support behind us when we need it.
The morning was a huge hit and everyone enjoyed the learning oppourtunity. We will attempt to re-establish a more reliable partner for Courtesy Checks next year.
